School Resource Officer

Baltimore County Public Schools utilizes School Resource Officers (SROs) who are commissioned, sworn law enforcement officers from the Baltimore County Police Department. These SROs play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment within schools. They are tasked with a triad of responsibilities including teaching, mentoring, and law enforcement.

Triad Model:
SROs are trained to fulfill roles as law enforcement officers, law-related counselors, and law-related educators within the school environment.

Community Engagement:
SROs actively engage with the school community, building positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

Safety and Security:
They contribute to a safe learning environment by addressing safety concerns, responding to incidents, and participating in school safety initiatives.

SROs serve as positive role models, providing guidance and support to students, and assisting in conflict de-escalation.
