Stress Management - Colleen Lippens, Jewish Community Services

 Do you parents feel stressed at times? Kids.  You love them like crazy.  They drive you crazy.  Relax.  Stress is a normal pat of parenting.  Learn how to manage stress, so you can manage the kids - and everything else!! 

 Do you think your children feel stressed? Stress. It's a part of every student's life.  It's tough to juggle papers, parties, friends, sports...But there are ways to get it all done.  Learn how to manage time without loosing your mind! 

 This interactive program will offer tools to help parents identify and address some of the stressors in their own lives as well as their children’s. Several stress management and relaxation techniques will be taught that can easily be included in your daily life.

Gangs in our Community - Frank Clark, Department of Juvenile Services (State of Maryland)

 Gangs have been a part of the fabric of our society in ways that, previously, we never could have imagined.  Maryland is not exempt from this national dilemma.  This training/workshop will focus on Maryland's gang culture.  Youth Gangs a re more persistent and menacing than other times in history.  It will also assist the participant to recognize the signs of gangs in communities, and their language, dress and culture.

 This training's design will provide information to help parents, service providers, community groups, youth programs, and teachers to understand the mounting challenge that our your face each day.  This session is designed to provide participants with an overview of the gang problems that are impacting our youth.  The session will also provide information regarding the THUG and gang mentality, as well as the media influences.  There will also be discussion strategies for Prevention and Intervention.
