Summer Reading Program

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Families who read together provide the strongest model for future reading. Research has established that children who participate in summer reading programs show an increase in their love for reading, their vocabulary development, and comprehension skills.

Baltimore County Public Schools supports summer reading for all students. We encourage family participation in this activity which offers students opportunities to expand their horizons and broaden their knowledge.

Our mission is to provide a quality education that develops the content knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable all students to reach their maximum potential as responsible, life-long learners and productive citizens. It is with this idea in mind that we have developed programs and guidelines for summer reading in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Sincerely,

Mrs. M. Talarigo
Principal, Pikesville Middle School
