Address:
Pikesville Middle School
7701 Seven Mile Lane
Pikesville, MD 21208
Students arriving before 8:55 a.m. should report directly to period one. Any student arriving after 8:55 a.m. should report directly to the main office to obtain a late pass. Late students need a note from their parents explaining the reason for the lateness.
A student requesting early dismissal must bring a note to the main office before homeroom. This note, signed by the parent, must state the reason and time to be excused. For the protection of students, parents must come to the office with identification to sign out children for early dismissal.
Success in school depends on regular attendance. Students are expected to be present each day, unless legally excused. Upon returning from an absence, students should present a note to their homeroom teacher. This note must include the date of and reason for the absence and be signed by a parent or guardian. Without a note, the absence will be coded as unexcused.
All visitors must report to the office upon entering the school.
Appropriate student behavior is necessary for a high quality program of education. Parents should read and review with their children the Baltimore County Student Handbook distributed during the first weeks of school, as well as the Pikesville Middle School rules and regulations.
Student movement throughout the hallways needs to be orderly. Students should always walk on the right side of halls. During change of classes, students need to move quickly, quietly, and directly to their classes. At all other times, including lunch, students must have an appropriately issued, written pass when in the hallways.
Homework is a part of the school program and" is assigned daily. Students record homework in student assignment books which are provided by the P.T.A. Parents are encouraged to monitor homework by checking the assignment book regularly. If parents have any questions about homework, they should contact the teacher.
It is the student's responsibility to make-up missed work. When a student is absent, a homework buddy should be contacted to obtain assignments. If a student misses three or more days of school due to illness, parents may call the office before noon to arrange for work to be collected from the teachers. Work will be available at 2:30 the following school day.
Our office is not equipped to handle phone calls for students except in extreme emergencies. In the event of such an emergency, an administrator will assist the caller.
Students may choose from three hot lunches, or may bring their lunch. Drinks, ice cream, cookies, and crackers may be purchased a la carte. Prices for food services are posted at the beginning of each school year. Applications for free or reduced-priced lunches are available in the school office for families meeting federal guidelines.
Homeroom teachers will assign lockers to all students. All outer garments, hats, and book bags will be kept in lockers throughout the day. Students may use lockers before and after school and before and after lunch. The combination is issued to the student alone and should not be shared with others. Lockers are the property of the school and are subject to inspection by authorized school personnel.
Students may attend after-school coach classes to receive additional assistance or to make up missed work. Arrangements should be made with individual teachers, and transportation home must be provided by the parents. Parents are required to write a note giving permission for students to remain after school.
The Physical Education Department offers an intramural program in many sports, including informal practice sessions and formal tournaments. Students receive information about intramurals, clubs, and other after-school activities during the morning announcements.
For morning drop-off, parents should drive around the perimeter of the parking lot, discharging students on the school side of the driveway. For afternoon pick up, parents should park along Seven Mile Lane. Since students board their busses in the driveway, cars are not permitted in the bus lane in the front of the building between 2:15-3:00 p.m.
The taking or administering of medications during school hours is discouraged. However, when it is deemed necessary by a physician that a child receive medication during the day, the student must have a written order from the physician and a labeled prescription bottle. The nurse is required to dispense and administer all medications.
Students may visit the school store, which is open in the morning and during lunch, to purchase school supplies.
A lost and found collection is maintained and displayed in the cafeteria. Students may look for lost belongings in this area during lunch. Belongings should be labeled for easy identification.
We believe that clothing encourages an attitude for learning and should not distract from the educational process. Students should wear no top smaller than a tee shirt and no shorts, skirts, or dresses shorter than three inches above the knee. Flip-flop sandals should not be worn for safety reasons. Underwear should NEVER be visible!

- shorts, skirts, and dresses above mid-thigh
- halter tops, crop tops, tank tops, and muscle shirts (shirts must tuck into waistband)
pajamas, slippers, or any other sleep wear- apparel with obscene drawings/statements or those that make reference to drugs/alcohol
